The Russian TV channel Наш Футбол ("Our Football") reports that FC Moscow, which was dissolved on 28 December 2010, will be resurrected next season. Many fans of Russian football fondly remember the club, that, albeit having been founded in 1997*, swiftly climbed the ranks in the Russian Premier League to finish 4th in the championship in 2007 and make the final of the Russian Cup. Aside from their success in domestic tournaments, the club's claim to fame includes making the 1st round of the UEFA Cup under Miodrag Bozovic. Bozovic, who currently heads FC Rostov in the RPL, was the last to coach the team, leading them to a 6th-place finish in the league and a semi-final spot in the Cup tournament. Other acclaimed coaches include Oleg Blokhin and CSKA's Leonid Slutsky, the latter of which gave FC Moscow their best results in domestic competition - the club finished 4th in the league and were runners-up in the Russian Cup. FC Moscow also featured a handful of talented international players, including Hector Bracamonte, Aleksei Snigiryov and Maxi Lopez. The club went bankrupt four years ago after its main sponsor, Norilsk Nickel, declined to continue funding. Despite reports of other interested sponsors and even potential support from Moscow's authorities, FC Moscow voluntarily withdrew from the Russian Premier League. FCM went on to play a season in the amateur league, finishing 3rd in their division and reaching the final of the Moscow Amateur Football Cup. The club was dissolved thereafter.

There is no word yet on the name of the club's new sponsor. FC Moscow will play in Russia's Third Division (the Russian Amateur Football League) in 2015.

*The team was founded in 1997 under the name Torpedo-ZIL and was renamed several times, becoming FC Moscow in 2004.
